Baggies 9th August

What an awesome burn we had yesterday at Baggies.
The SW was humming when we got there around 1pm - I measured 22 knots avg on the beach gusting to 26. Sea was flat but there was the odd wave. Very little shorebreak and the wash didn't look bad.
We rigged 5.0 / 5.3 and launched.
It was just enough...once you got planing you were powered and the waves were small but smooth.
Within half an hour it freshened and everyone came in to crack on the downhaul / outhaul.
Most of us were properly powered to slightly over at the end but it was epic.
Waves were fair and I saw some good rights and linked turns. Jumps were epic. Guys going for big backloops and lots of big jumps.
What a turnout too - Dave, Cliff, Ralph, Reuben, Justin, Paul and myself. We had good burn South near the moth hall and then blasted downwind when it got bumpy to have a go N of the rocks. It was a bit too gusty there and I was shanked so I came back. Paul stayed on to smash some huge backloops. Sadly the biggest of the day no-one saw and he's wrecked his knee on landing. Nasty.
Hope it gets better soon, Paul.... looking forward to seeing you in action again.
