Just realised why the airport weather graph isn't working so well this month... probably because there's no longer anyone AT the old airport. Don't we have a new one starting May? Somewhere up the N coast and apparently you pay R4 just to go through the drop-off....

Anyway, either way we're without our nice reliable weather station now. I think it's about time the Baggies kiters got their act together and set up a station and webcam. Hmmm? Hmmm?

Good news-

Andy has been in touch with the guys who set up the sms-based stations elsewhere along the coast (la-mercy and country club) and it seems from the latest communication that there is a chance he'll go and set one up at warners!

Presumably it will work on a premium SMS service - send a SMS to the station and it returns with wind avgs.

I think that will be excellent for us... particularly those of us that travel a bit to get there. If the thing is reliable and consistent we should be able to build up a pretty good knowledgebase of its reports against actual conditions and windguru predictions.

That should translate to more time on the water. Will keep you all posted.
