Well midmar went off today. Predictions were for really light, iffy NW in the morning, dying by midday. What happend was the opposite. It blew in the morning, died off around 10.30 but by 11 it was smoking and continued to pump until about 3pm or later.
And by pump, I mean really pump! I was on my 5.0 with 98l AHD and way overpowered most of the time. We sailed from Hobie point and it was a bit gusty for the first 20m but after that you could burn flat out right across to the yacht club. That's a seriously long reach and in the middle the wind peaked with plenty of decent sized chop.
Alistair, Rene and I sailed from Hobie point, Neil and Kevin sailed from Eikedal and Gareth sailed from the yacht mole.
We left at about 3 and it was still carnage!! Nice little surprise late Christmas present.
